Antiquing

My cousin asked if I could do a small favour while I was in Denmark this trip. They have a tiny Royal Copenhagen dish that is broken and asked if I could have a look around to see about getting it replaced. It belongs to a set that is a family treasure. Her boyfriends family is originally from Denmark.

You don’t have to ask me twice to go looking at antiques! I would go checking out antiques anywhere really, but a country as old as Denmark; they don’t even consider what we would call antiques old! Off I went, armed only with a photo of the dish wishing to be replaced.

We checked out multiple shops in various towns. Although we didn’t manage to find the actual dish we were seeking we did find many treasures and had such fun looking. We also had the opportunity to learn more about Royal Copenhagen and speak to some experts about some collections. It was very interesting. We were also assured by everyone that the dish could be obtained.

I will pass the task of finding this dish on to my Mom who will also love the opportunity to explore some antique shops in a country as old as Denmark. I could also ask my sister-in-law to see what she can find out. She works for an auction newspaper, The Woodbridge Advertiser.

Mom, there is a tiny antique shop in Riba that we didn’t have an opportunity to get to so if you get a chance you might want to check for it there. Dana and Bryan we will continue the search……..
