San Cristobal Island

Our final morning in the Galapagos Islands! I am so disappointed to be leaving. It has been such a fantastic trip!

We are at San Cristobal, which the easternmost island of the Galapagos and the oldest. We are going into the town, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, which is the capital of the Galapagos.

Later……

We went into the town and visited the interpretation center for a little bit and then wondered around town. I should have bought some clothes as I still don’t have my luggage. It is a quaint little town – sea lions just lying on the benches & things like that.

We went to the airport & got our boarding passes but were told that there was a problem in Quito & the flight was delayed. We went back into town for a couple of hours, our guide suggested a nice place for lunch that was off the beaten path and it was wonderful.

Back we went to the airport only to be told again that it would be about another three hours. Our guide shuffled us back on the bus and we went for a little tour in the mountains and then went to a tortoise breeding center. It was great! Like we had another full day and we got to see the tortoises more like in the wild then at the Charles Darwin Centre. As wild as they can be & still be safe, I suppose.

When we did arrive back to Quito my luggage still was no where to be found – I was certainly upset! It was one thing to be on a boat in the Galapagos without anything but I couldn’t head to Peru without my things. My luggage was delivered about 8:00 Monday morning, just as I was heading for breakfast and leaving for the airport at 8:30! I didn’t even open it – I just grabbed the bag & headed out for the next adventure…..

I didn’t sleep well Sunday night as I was still swaying on the boat and I was having terrible nightmares. I suppose it will take a couple of days to get my land legs back again.

I’m really not ready to leave the Galapagos!!

P.S. I can’t seem to add photos with the iPad – the hyperlink doesn’t seem to click if anyone can help I would love that?! It’s not just this blog program because I can’t add photos to Facebook either. Thanks! No time to do the research myself you know…..
