Saturday

Today has really been the best day! We went to Punta Suarez on Espanola Island in the morning for a long hike. It is the southern most island in the Galapagos. We saw more stunning wildlife then we have seen yet. It is just so untouched by the outside world.

The hike was about 2 and a half hours long and it was very, very hot. We went along the coast where there were huge jagged cliffs to some bird nesting areas where we saw some blue footed and black footed boobies and so many others as well. We also saw many sea lions and marine iguanas on Espanola Island. The iguanas on each island look a little different. It depends on the algae that they eat. I took a little video of two of the marine iguanas battling – it is mating season you know. It would have been nice to see some albatross but they are only here from April to December. Between January & March each year they make their annual odyssey out to the sea. I just may have to come back sometime – anyone want to come with me?

After Espanola Island we went to a beautiful spot to go snorkeling. We went off the boat again and this place was great. We were able to go into some caves, and swim with sea lions. I got stung many times by the jellyfish! It hurt. When we got back to the boat I jumped off the top into the ocean! Just for fun.

I can’t remember if I’ve told you about the food yet but it has been wonderful. We have had breakfast, lunch & dinner and then when we return after an excursion there is always a snack waiting. Each meal has been served with a different freshly made juice – yummy.

This has been the best week ever!
