Thursday

This is a little piece of heaven on earth!!! So so beautiful!

I felt better today as I slept last night. Still no word on my luggage though.

You can’t really sleep in here on the boat or maybe it’s just our room as it’s next to the captains bridge. They dropped the anchor awfully early about 5:00 and then they start to play music over the intercom at 6:30 am! Breakfast is served at 7:00 so really the music is a very nice touch.

This morning we took an excursion to Rabida Island. It was so beautiful – the beach is red sand! We took a trail walk for a little while, as a group we move pretty slow really as everyone is taking so many photos. It’s interesting to see what other people notice. We went to a salt water lagoon hoping to see pink flamingos wading but there wasn’t any there. There were lots of the revered palo santo trees though. They are incense trees – imagine having a bon fire with them?

After the little walk we went snorkeling. It was so great! The water was so clear and there was just so much to see. We were swimming with sea lions.

I am writing this about noon on Thursday and there is no Internet connection so I don’t know when you will get it. We are currently sailing to Bachas Beach.
We will go for another walk and then snorkel again. This beach is on the Island of Santa Cruz. It is supposed to be a green beach. I’m starting to think that maybe I didn’t do enough research about the Galapagos, it is truly an amazing place!

I know that there is no way to get my luggage to me where I am now but I would feel better knowing that it will be at the hotel when I get back. I am making due with borrowed clothes thanks to the great people in my group. I have a bathing suit on borrowed from a lady from Scotland, a top on from my roommate from Ireland and a skirt on that is borrowed from another lady from Scotland ( she actually borrowed it from her daughter!) I might have to track the number of borrowed outfits – borrowed outfit #24 coming up…..

The crew members on the boat are wonderful! Really terrific.

Thank you!
